Scholarship Essay Contest

Introduction and Topic

California is facing one of the most severe droughts in its history. For three years running, California has been mired in the second worst stretch of drought in over 50 years. Many homeowners have made efforts to cut back their water usage in their own homes. However, not all homeowners have taken the proper steps to conserve water, and undetected household plumbing leaks still account for over a trillion gallons of water wasted nationwide each year. If this is happening to you, our Southern California plumbers can help.

AAP Home Services is offering a scholarship awarded to three (3) eligible students for their most convincing ideas regarding the possible solutions that plumbers and homeowners can offer in the middle of this prolonged California drought.

Choose one of the following prompts:

  1. How can plumbers contribute to help alleviate the California drought? Give specific examples that detail the strategies plumbers can implement into their work.
  2. What can homeowners do to identify water waste in their own homes and take steps to correct the issue? Discuss any specific plumbing products that can help in this period of drought, and what you feel are the best practices for conserving water.
